Over £5bn is overpaid in SDLT payments each year to HMRC. This is because most conveyancers use HMRCs calculator to work out how much you should pay on your SDLT. However, HMRCs calculator was designed to only provide an estimate and not be used as a final figure.
Below are common reasons you could be owed a refund on your SDLT:
- If you purchased an uninhabitable property. This can include but is not limited to: No bathroom, no kitchen, no bedroom, no gas supply, no electrical supply, no water supply & structural damage.
